Dubai World Cup Preview

After last weeks Phenomenal World Cup of jump racing, this weekend we see the World cup of flat racing take place in Dubai.

This event features horses, jockeys and trainers from all over the world competing for the main prize, which is the Dubai World Cup.

The Dubai World Cup is the most expensive horse race in the world, with the winner of the race picking up a pay day of £6 million. No horse in the history of the event has ever won this race twice, that just shows how competitive the fight for glory really is.

The race is one mile and two furlongs and is held at Meydan Racecourse. Dubai’s own Godolphin stables, who own a lot of successful horses have the best record in this event but are not the favourites to win it this year.

Arrogate is the top ranked horse in the world for flat racing and is the favourite to take the substantial prize money on Saturday for his owners Judmonte Farms Inc. His previous wins include the Travers Stakes (2016), Breeders Cup Classic (2016) and Pegasus World Cup (2017) where he recorded the fastest ever time round that track over nine furlongs. He will go off at odds around 4/11 which is very fair considering the progression off this horse over the past few months.

This horse is one race away from being the highest earning horse the sport has ever graced its eyes on and with this win his earnings will spiral up to the £17 million mark for his owners.

This race for the odds on favourite can put him into the hall of fame of horse racing, he starts the race as the highest rated horse in the world and with the hype and past racing experience under his belt, he will be sure to light up the festival.
